Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 7, 2026 Last Updated: May 7, 2026
1. Introduction
TrueLens is a service operated by Nanocase LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company located at 1524 Shrewsbury Drive, Bensalem, PA 19020 ("Nanocase," "we," "us," or "our"). TrueLens is a video-based vehicle inspection platform that enables auto repair shops to record inspection videos, share them with customers, and manage technician teams.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information in connection with the TrueLens website at thetruelens.com, the TrueLens iOS and Android applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
TrueLens has two types of users, and we collect different information from each:
- Shop Users — auto repair shop owners, advisors, and technicians who hold accounts with TrueLens, log into the Service, record inspection videos, and manage their shop's operations.
- End Customers (Vehicle Owners) — individuals who receive a video link from a shop and view inspection videos through the Service. End Customers do not hold accounts with TrueLens.
Sections below indicate which categories of users are addressed.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information We Collect from Shop Users
When you create or use a Shop User account, we collect:
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, business name, business address, role within the shop (owner, advisor, or technician)
- Authentication credentials: passwords (stored as cryptographic hashes), authentication tokens
- Subscription and billing information: subscription tier (Solo, Team, or Pro), billing status, trial status. Payment card details are processed and stored by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc., and are not stored on TrueLens servers.
- Usage data: videos recorded, videos approved, videos shared, login activity, feature usage, dates and times of activity
- Device information: device type, operating system, application version, device identifiers, IP address
- Inspection videos: video and audio recordings of vehicle inspections that you record and upload to the Service. These may include images of vehicles, vehicle interiors, vehicle identification numbers (VINs), license plates, and other content captured during inspection.
3.2 Information We Collect from End Customers
When an End Customer views an inspection video link, we collect:
- Link interaction data: the time the link was opened, the number of times the link was viewed, the device type and operating system used to view, IP address (used to estimate geographic region only)
- Contact actions: if the End Customer taps to call, text, or save the shop's vCard, we record that the action was taken (but not the content of any subsequent communication)
End Customers do not provide TrueLens with personal information directly. The End Customer's name, vehicle, and contact information are provided to TrueLens by the Shop User who created the inspection video.
3.3 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from:
- Stripe — payment confirmations, subscription status, dispute notifications
- Firebase (Google) — authentication events, error reports, performance data
- Resend — email delivery confirmations and bounces
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Process subscription payments and manage billing
- Authenticate Shop Users and protect accounts from unauthorized access
- Generate and host customer-facing video links
- Track the metrics shop owners use to evaluate their operations (videos merged, videos sent, videos opened by customers, view counts)
- Send transactional communications (account confirmations, billing notices, security alerts)
- Respond to support inquiries
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal information to third parties. We do not use End Customer information for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to delivering the inspection video to that End Customer.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only with the following categories of recipients:
5.1 Service Providers
We share information with third-party service providers that help us operate the Service:
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing
- Google Cloud / Firebase — authentication, data storage, file storage, application hosting
- Netlify — web application hosting
- Resend — transactional email delivery
These providers are contractually obligated to use information only as needed to provide their services to us.
5.2 Within the Shop
Information you provide as a Shop User may be visible to other authorized users of your shop's TrueLens account based on their role:
- Owners can view all activity within their shop
- Advisors can view inspection videos and approve them for sharing
- Technicians can view inspection videos they recorded
5.3 With End Customers
When a Shop User approves and shares an inspection video, the video and the shop's branding information (name, phone, address) are accessible to anyone with the link.
5.4 Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process (such as a subpoena or court order)
- Enforce our Terms of Service
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of TrueLens, our users, or the public
- Investigate fraud or security issues
5.5 Business Transfers
If Nanocase is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify Shop Users of any such change in ownership or control of personal information.
6. Data Retention
6.1 Inspection Videos
Inspection videos are retained according to the auto-delete setting selected by the shop. Available settings are 3, 7, 15, or 30 days from the date of recording. Once the auto-delete window passes, video files are permanently deleted from storage.
6.2 Customer Video Links
Approved video links shared with End Customers expire 30 days after creation. After expiration, the link no longer plays the video and a notice is shown to the End Customer.
6.3 Account Data After Cancellation
If a Shop User cancels their subscription or deletes their account, we retain account-level data (name, email, shop information, usage logs) for 30 days after cancellation, after which it is permanently deleted. During the 30-day window, the account can be reactivated. Billing records may be retained longer where required by tax or accounting law.
6.4 End Customer Data
Link interaction data (view counts, view timestamps) is retained alongside the associated video. When the video is deleted under section 6.1, the associated interaction data is also deleted.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and administrative safeguards to protect information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit using TLS
- Encryption of data at rest in our cloud storage
- Authentication via Firebase, including support for multi-factor authentication
- Access controls limiting which employees and contractors can access user data
- Regular security review of our infrastructure
No security measure is perfect. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on the Service.

The legal basis on which we process personal information is, depending on context, the performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating the Service, your consent, or compliance with a legal obligation.
International transfers of data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the United States are made under appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
